Housework anyone?
Okay, I believe everyone- at some time or another must clean their house, right?
Although chores may never be on your “ways to have fun” list, consider how housework can be an inexpensive, effective way to support an active, healthy lifestyle while toning muscle. Plus, there’s plenty of work and variety for the whole family to benefit from the healthy lifestyle rewards.
The truth is chores often engage various body muscles to complete the tasks. Whether indoors or outdoors, sting together a number of household tasks to last at least 30 minutes to one hour. Group chores that require bending with others that involve reaching and stretching for a balance approach. For example, on a day you plan to clean floor baseboards, also plan to dust ceiling fans or clean bathroom mirrors to stretch muscles that may become tired from the bending required to wipe baseboards over an extended period of time. When sweeping, vacuuming, or mopping, use long strokes with each back and forth motion to work arms and shoulders. Incorporate another chore between sweeping and mopping to allow your muscles the opportunity to rest from chores requiring similar activity. If you’re trying to lose weight or keep the good-looking physique, there are a number of chores that burn calories as well.
Another important factor to always consider concerning your health when doing chores is the common use of toxins in most household cleaners. There are natural alternatives you can use in supporting a healthy lifestyle at home. Now, with the go green campaign, many household cleaning suppliers are creating a green cleaning product conveniently offered alongside commonly used cleaning products.
And while there are many rewards you can receive from maintaining a healthy, clean home, chores are not designed to replace cardio and other exercises recommended for an active lifestyle. But since we all know the housework will have to be done at some point, it’s encouraging to know the work is beneficial and supports healthy living.
