For over 33 years State of Georgia and University System employees have demonstrated compassion and pride for our local communities. Through efforts of the State Charitable Contributions Program, employees dedicate volunteer hours to various charities or make pledges of payroll deductions for donations to help fellow citizens.
During last year’s 2015-2016 campaign, state employees pledged more than $1.4 million to over 1,350 charities. On Thursday, June 9, 2016, the SCCP held its annual awards ceremony to acknowledge 25 agencies and universities that have gone above and beyond to help them reach their fundraising.
Ann Baird Bishop, Esq, keynote speaker and former chairperson of Kids’ Chance of Georgia, Inc. stated, “No one goes to work for state government because it is the highest paying gig in town. But, I challenge anyone to find a group who does more for the least among us. Clearly, state employees are the most generous with their time and resources. You are true leaders in service.”
Compassion and commitment runs throughout Georgia which makes it a great place to live for all of its citizens. Congratulations to the recipients of the 2015-2016 State Charitable Contributions Program Awards, and thank you for your service to local communities!
