State Driver Services Receives Multiple Industry Awards

Agency Honored for Investigative Services and Community Service

On Tuesday, June 26,  Department of Driver Services (DDS) Commissioner Spencer R. Moore announced that the agency recently won three (3) awards from the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA). AAMVA is a nationally recognized authority committed to enhancing safety and security through motor vehicle administration and law enforcement.

“I am extremely proud of these awards which are a testament to our commitment to provide exceptional services to our customers and goodwill throughout the community,” said Commissioner Moore. “Team DDS is second to none, and I am excited to see what accomplishments are ahead.”

The DDS Office of Investigative Services (OIS) received one international award and one regional award in the Fraud Prevention and Detection category for individual achievements. DDS was also honored with a regional Community Service Award for their efforts to assist customers who lost their credentials during severe tornados in South Georgia.

International and Regional Award Winner

• Fraud Prevention and Detection Award (Law Enforcement Individual) for Roderick “Roddie” White/Criminal Investigator II, OIS. Investigator White managed an internal investigation that culminated in five arrests for issuing or obtaining driver’s licenses fraudulently.

Regional Award Winners

• Fraud Prevention and Detection Award (Motor Vehicle Individual) for Larry McDuffie/Criminal Investigator II, OIS. Investigator McDuffie investigated and substantiated a case of identity theft and fraud which led to the arrest and prosecution of one individual on both state and federal level.

• Community Service Award for GA DDS Emergency Storm Relief. DDS quickly launched the DDS Emergency Issuance Plan to assist storm victims who needed identification which included dispatching the Mobile Emergency Licensing Unit to the hardest hit area of South Georgia.

The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing safety and security for driver and vehicle licensing, administration and related enforcement.  AAMVA develops model programs in motor vehicle administration, law enforcement and highway safety. The association’s programs encourage uniformity and reciprocity among the states and provinces, and liaisons with other levels of government and the private sector.
