I-85 Collapse: State Offices in Metro-Atlanta Delayed Open Until 10:00 am, Friday

As you may know, a massive fire caused a portion of Interstate 85 northbound near Piedmont road to collapse.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) currently has bridge inspectors on the scene completing assessments. GDOT is coordinating detour routes and soon will be ready to make those available. Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) has our State Operations Center (SOC) up and running. State Government offices in the metro area will have a delayed open until 10 am Friday.  State employees, that can, are encouraged to telecommute tomorrow.  As we have a more detailed plan moving forward from GDOT regarding a detour, short and long term plans, we will pass it along to you.

Thanks,

Chris Riley

Chief of Staff

Governor Nathan Deal
