Traveling Exhibit: Beyond Rosie – Women in World War II

Roosevelt’s Little White House Historic Site – Warm Springs, GA
“Beyond Rosie – Women in World War II” tells the story of how women contributed to the war effort. From the Museum of History and Holocaust Education at Kennesaw State University’s traveling exhibit series. $7-$12. 706-655-5870.

4th of July Fireworks Hike

Panola Mountain State Park – Stockbridge, GA
Slow down this July 4th and join a ranger for a leisurely stroll to the top of Panola Mountain. As the sun sets we will enjoy a panoramic view of Stone Mountain and Atlanta’s Independence Day Celebrations from a distance. Bring water, bug spray, and a flashlight for the walk back down the mountain to a waiting campfire and s’mores. $20 plus $5 parking. 770-389-7801.

July 4th Celebration

Independence Day Paddle

George L. Smith State Park – Twin City, GA
Come on out and celebrate our wonderful country by paddling down our tranquil cypress lake with one of our rangers. Experienced paddlers as well as beginners are welcome. $10 plus $5 parking. 478-763-2759.

Eye-Spy Camera Scavenger Hunt
Saturdays 8 AM – 4 PM – Jul 7, 2018 until Jul 28, 2018
Chattahoochee Bend State Park – Newnan, GA
Bring your camera and take a look around our park for items on our scavenger hunt list. Take a picture with each item on our list and bring your list and pictures to the office to claim your prize. Sounds of the South – 4th Annual Lake Jam

Heritage Farm Camp

General Coffee State Park – Nicholls, GA
This camp focuses on learning what life was like for children on a south Georgia farm in the late 1800s. Participants will do the same activities that kids their age did, such as animal care, candle making, soap making, gardening and open hearth cooking. Ages 9–14. $45 plus $5 parking. 912-384-7082.

Children’s Nature Hike

Sweetwater Creek State Park – Lithia Springs, GA
This hike for children (6 years and older) will focus on learning more about the beautiful Piedmont forest we live in, especially the animals and plants of this area. We will be hiking down to the five story Civil War-era mill. $5 plus $5 parking. 770-732-5871.

Beach Combing on Cumberland Island

Crooked River State Park – St. Marys, GA
Enjoy a boat ride to Cumberland Island where you’ll stroll the beach with a Park Ranger identifying shells and sea life along the shore. Get a chance to photograph the famous wild horses and see coastal birds. Binoculars provided. Space limited. Ages 6 and older.
