Registration Opens for 2nd Annual ‘Bike to Work Challenge’

Bike to Work_LogoWhether you’re an avid biker who has ridden to work for years, or a newbie that has yet to experience the joys of beating rush hour traffic, this year’s Bike to Work Challenge has something for you.

From October 1-31, The Clean Air Campaign, Atlanta Bicycle Coalition and Georgia Commute Options partners bring you metro Atlanta’s Bike to Work Challenge. Back by popular demand for its second year, this month-long, fun competition is open to both experienced and beginner cyclists.

How it Works:

Cyclists sign up to compete as an individual or as part of a team and earn points by logging their bike commute trips, participating in bike seminars and events, and submitting photos for an online contest.  Participants can track their progress against leaderboards throughout the month. At the end of the competition, grand prizes including Patagonia rain jackets will be awarded to the top individuals and team. In addition, all participants will be entered in weekly drawings to win moisture-wicking cycling shirts.

In an effort to reduce employee commute times, the Georgia CommuteSmart program, available to state employees, includes a commute alternative option, such as bicycling instead of driving alone to and from work. The second-annual Bike to Work Challenge is a perfect way to get started!

To find out more and to register, visit atlbiketowork.org.  Registration deadline for teams is October 4. Pedal over to the site quick though — the first 100 people to register receive a Bike to Work Challenge water bottle.
