Veterans Day Proclamation Ceremony

Tue, 11/06/2018 – 11:00am

Join the Georgia Department of Veterans Service for their annual “Veterans Day in Georgia” proclamation signing ceremony, featuring Governor Nathan Deal.

The event, which will be held in the North Wing of the State Capitol Building, will feature a keynote speech from Major General Joe Jarrard, the Adjutant General of Georgia.

Governor Deal will offer brief remarks prior to signing the proclamation, which will be accepted by GDVS Commissioner Mike Roby on behalf of Georgia veterans.

All attending veterans will be invited to join a group photo.

Historical note: In 1954, the 83rd Congress of the United State renamed the federal holiday then known as Armistice Day (originally honoring veterans of World War I) as Veterans Day to honor veterans of all conflicts. The State of Georgia has hosted a Veterans Day in Georgia proclamation ceremony every year since 1954.
