2015-16 SCCP Campaign is Underway!

LaToya Wimbush, State SCCP Coordinator

Each year, Georgia’s State employees donate more than a million dollars of their own money to local charities through the State Charitable Contributions Program (SCCP). The giving period for this year’s campaign began in September and will go through November 15th. With more than 1,300 charities supporting education, health, welfare, and environmental services, State employees have the opportunity to give back and make an impact and difference in our communities!

To learn more about SCCP and the various charities, or to pledge a donation, please log-on to the GASCCP Website.

GUCU invites State employees to help local food banks

Georgia United Credit Union invites you to participate in our annual “CAN HUNGER” food drive benefitting local food banks in our communities, February 2 through March 31. Help us stock the shelves of your local food pantry and feed neighbors in need.

Please drop off donations at the Georgia United Branch nearest you or make a $1 donation and we’ll purchase a food item for you. All members who donate will be entered into a drawing to win a $250 VISA gift card.

The most requested/needed items are:

  • Peanut butter
  • Canned tuna & chicken
  • Canned fruit & vegetables
  • Canned soups, stews and pasta
  • 100% fruit juice
  • Boxed pasta and rice

For the last three years, we encouraged all Georgia United Branches to collect canned goods for local food banks during February and March. Since that time, GUCU has raised 92,437 cans or 46 tons of food! (Using these Metrics:  One 16 oz. can or box = 1 lb.; $1.00 donation= 1 lb.; 1 ton = 2,000 pounds). It’s time to assist our local food banks and we need your help!

DFCS and Clark’s Kids need your help this Christmas

Let’s demonstrate how we can rally to help a sister agency serve their small customers!

The Division of Family and Children Services, in partnership with Clark Howard, needs our help to make Christmas special for foster children throughout Georgia. Currently, Santa will be short on his visits to 3,000 children by Christmas morning.

How can you help? Visit one of these three metro-Atlanta Walmarts this weekend, choose a child’s name to sponsor, and purchase a toy:

  • December 12: 5200 Windward Parkway, Alpharetta | 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • December 13: 2635 Pleasant Hill Road, Duluth | 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • December 14: 210 Cobb Parkway South, Marietta | 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

You can click on this link for more information! That’s it! Someone will wrap and deliver the toy on your behalf on Christmas morning.
