Deal Proclaims Aug. 28 “Share the Journey Day”

MLK 50th Anniversary

Today, Gov. Deal proclaimed Aug. 28 as “Share the Journey Day” in honor of the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington. Earlier this year, Gov. Deal joined leaders of the Civil Rights movement to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The proclamation states: “Upon the 50th anniversary of this defining moment in the Civil Rights movement, it is fitting that we reflect on the sacrifices and experiences that were endured to achieve the ideals championed by our founding documents and finally fulfilled through the products of this movement.”
