March is Purchasing Month

Staff from the Georgia Department of Administrative Services’ Purchasing Division visit Gov. Nathan Deal to celebrate Purchasing Month in Georgia.

Governor Nathan Deal has signed a proclamation declaring March as “Purchasing Month” in Georgia – a month when the state will recognize the purchasing and materials management professions who play a significant role in the efficiency and effectiveness of both the public and private sectors by balancing and negotiating time, source and price.

More than 600 state, local, and federal employees provide valuable training and educational services in the areas of procurement and materials management.

Throughout the month, the Georgia Chapter of NIGP, Inc., GPAG, and other professional purchasing associations will engage in efforts to inform the public about the important role played by the purchasing profession in business, industry, and government.
