State offers training for accounting personnel

The Carl Vinson Institute of Government is now accepting registrations for the State Financial Management Program’s Primary Accounting Series for FY 2013.

State employees in accounting and other financial management roles are encouraged to visit the program’s website for a brochure, class schedule and registration information.  The first set of classes begins in September.

The State Financial Management Certificate Program is an evolving program whose purpose is to ensure that state employees understand how to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to the transactions and events that occur in a government environment.

Registration fees are $100 for each introductory course and $150 for intermediate.

The University of Georgia’s Center for Continuing Education offers the accounting series as well as other governmental finance courses online. See the online training page for registration information and fees.
