Want a quicker, calmer commute? Try Xpress

This summer marks eight years of the Xpress commuter service managed by the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) in Metro Atlanta.

Since the first two routes began service to Downtown Atlanta in 2004, Xpress has grown to a truly regional system, with 33 routes providing service into major employment centers in Downtown, Midtown, Buckhead and Perimeter Center.  Commuters from as far away as LaGrange and Dahlonega, Athens and Carrollton choose Xpress every day for “commuting made easy.”

Furthermore, Xpress –

  • Takes 1.5 million cars off the road each year, improving the capacity of Georgia’s most congested highways;
  • Saves commuters 1.4 million gallons of fuel each year; and
  • Provides reliable, stress-free commutes – 90% of Xpress customers said that they “love” the service or think it is “really good.”

Xpress is now even more convenient for state employees working Downtown.  In March 2012, GRTA changed its Downtown routing so most routes now have two stops near the State Capitol (Mitchell Ave. at Washington St. and Washington St. at MLK, Jr. Dr.) in addition to other Downtown stops.

One-way fares are $3-4 depending on the park-n-ride location. For further information, please visit www.xpressga.com or call 404-463-GRTA (-4782).

If your agency would like GRTA staff to come meet with employees to talk about Xpress, contact William Mecke at 404-463-3011 or wmecke@grta.org.
