Notice: State of Emergency Extended
Posted: October 3, 2024
Governor Brian P. Kemp, on September 24, 2024, issued a State of Emergency order for all of Georgia in preparation for Hurricane Helene. On October 1, in light of the impacts Helene made across the state, Governor Kemp issued a new order extending the State of Emergency through 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
Please take a minute to review the state's Inclement Weather Policy, including where to find out about state office closures. You might also want to review the State's recent advisory on absences due to emergency closures.
For those impacted by the storm, GEMA/HS has set up a Helene-specific webpage that includes information on how to obtain emergency food and shelter, how to access crisis and recovery resources, and how to volunteer to help those in need.
