The U.S. Department of Labor is offering temporary relief to workers and their families whose access to their job-based health plan coverage may have been affected by Hurricane Helene or Hurricane Milton.
The Flexible Benefits Program participants impacted by Hurricanes Helene or Milton in the designated disaster areas listed below will receive deadline extensions for certain benefit changes associated with elections, notifications, payments, and claims/appeals for covered individuals, including any participant, beneficiary, qualified beneficiary, or claimant who resided, lived, or worked in one of the disaster areas at the time of the hurricane or tropical storm.
For Georgia residents, this period began Sept. 24, 2024, and extends through May 1, 2025.
Alight (GaBreeze) will be sending emails notifying the impacted participants in the designated disaster areas based on their home address zip codes of the deadline extensions.
